Begin… Again…

Around 10 months ago I sat here and wrote about all the changes in our life we’ve seen. Sure I may have said I was going to write more… But let’s not get picky over details…. 😂. Now I sit here in the midst of selling everything (and I almost mean it literally. If it isn’t something completely irreplaceable and/or doesn’t fit in our 10×10 storage, it’s gone), and think back to the last year where about this time we were on the road to drive to Oregon and back, with Butthole Kitty in tow, to pick up our new camper.

During that adventure we reminisced of the past, talked about life was, and speculated about what it would look like in a year.

Well one thing is for sure, we have said for the last four years our plan was to go adventure as soon as the youngest graduated and we have stayed true to our vision. So here we are packing up, selling nearly everything, and preparing to live full time in our truck camper.

I’ll just begin this part by saying this isn’t easy nor pretty. We’ve been living in a complete state of disarray for months now. Trying to part with things we once thought were very important but realizing it won’t fit in the camper nor will it be worth keeping in storage until we eventually settle somewhere is a whole new level of self discovery. Not to mention having a yard sale for two days unlocked a whole new personal level of hell. The Nalgene bottle with screwdrivers helped but it was not enough. I do feel that it’s a right of passage though, and we had to walk through the proverbial coals to move on to our next step.

So now you can honestly say you’ve been here with us from the beginning. Whatever that gets ya!

A quick recap of the last year… We love our camper. Spent lots of time in it perfecting what we need and what we don’t. We designed and had a special truck bed built from a local fab guy. Returned to the office and got permission to work remote. Finished out our last year on the Football Booster Club. And to top it all off we decided we needed more to keep us on our toes, so we got a puppy. A wirehaired pointing griffon named Briggs.

That leads to the next step, and a whole new beginning. We will be full time in the truck camper at the end of the month (May). More to come. Stay tuned!
